Beltangady: When fishing in river, man slips and drowns

Beltangady, Oct 30: A person who had gone to Devaragundi in River Netravati at Belalu in the taluk accidentally slipped and drowned on Wednesday October 28 night. He was accompanied by some friends at the time, but none of them could rescue him, it is gathered.

The person who lost his life in this tragic incident was Sheenappa Gowda (65), from Ambunje. He was accompanied by friends, Sanjeeva Gowda, Silvester Monis in his fishing sojourn to the river.

After Sheenappa slipped and fell into water, he was washed away by strong water current. Although his friends and locals made herculean efforts to trace him, they did not succeed in their task. His body was located on Thursday morning.

A case of unnatural death was thereafter filed in the local police station.
