Mysuru, Oct 31 (DHNS) : The State BJP will make a complaint to Governor Vajubhai Vala and initiate legal action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the latter’s ‘unconstitutional statement’ about consuming beef.
The chief minister, while speaking at the Youth Congress meet in Bengaluru on Thursday, had said “Do what you want, I will taste beef.”
Ravi said that being a non-practising advocate, Siddaramaiah should have known that his statement, made in the capacity of holding a constitutional post, would “provoke a section of society against the Constitution.”
He said that before challenging the BJP on this issue, the chief minister should seek the reaction of his wife, who worships cattle for the welfare of her husband and family members.
‘Banned in 21 states’
Member of Parliament Prathap Simha said that of the 21 states which have banned cow slaughter, Congress was in power in 17 states when the ban was enforced.
Meanwhile, speaking to presspersons in Kushalnagar (Kodagu district), State BJP president Pralhad Joshi described Siddaramaiah’s statement as an “attempt at disrupting communal harmony.”
He said that the chief minister should not have given the statement in the wake of the Dadri lynching incident, which Joshi termed unfortunate. Joshi said that the scientists and writers were returning their awards since they could not find any other reason for targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A host of BJP leaders had assembled at Kushalnagar to take part in the marriage of Karthik Gowda, the son Union Law Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda.
