Mangaluru, Oct 31: In connection with the hacking of Vijeeth (29), a rowdy-sheeter from Shivanagara at Shivanagara Junction in the wee hours of Thursday October 29 with a sword, policemen belonging to city crime branch (CCB) have arrested four persons. The arrested men are Raghavendra alias Raghu (30) and Muhammed Altaf (21), both from Shivanagara, Havith Poojary (21) from Gokarn and Shamsheer alias Dam (21) from Moodushedde Shalepadavu.
Vijeeth, who already was facing a few cases relating theft and murder-attempts, was murdered with sharp weapons when he had been to Shivanagara Junction late night on Wednesday. The fact that Vijeeth was killed was conveyed to his father by a neighbour named Udaya. Thereafter, a case was registered in Kavoor police station.
The CCB police, who took up investigation, gathered that the murder was for vengeance relating to a long-standing enmity. It is said Vijeeth used to create a scene often for minor issues in Moodushedde area, leaving many other frustrated. Allegedly, he had gatecrashed into the house of Raghavendra alias Raghu a few weeks ago, and attacked him with a sabre. A complaint about this incident had been filed in Kavoor police station. The policemen were given to understand during the interrogation that Raghavendra had, in association with a few friends, hatched a plan to eliminate Vijeeth.
Raghavendra faces earlier cases relating to double murders of Murugesh, a close assoicate of Vamanjoor Rohi, and his brother-in-law, Upendra. His name had also been mentioned as an accused in the murder of Bijai Raja in 2014, case relating to which was registered in panambur polcie station. The other accused, Havith, also has a murder attempt case against him in Ullal police station.
The accused are in the custody of Kavoor police now. The Investigation relating to the case was conducted under the orders of city police commissioner, S Murugan, under the guidance of deputy commissioners of police, K M Shantarju and Dr Sanjeev M Patil, by CCB inspector, Valentine D'Souza, police sub-inspector, Shyam Sundar, and other police personnel.
