Udupi, Nov 1: Town Bharatiya Janata Party members staged a protest in front of Clock Tower, here on Saturday October 31. This was in retaliation to Karnataka CM’s controversial statement made at a Karnataka Youth Congress general body meeting on beef eating.

The CM had remarked, "Till date I have never eaten cow meat. But if it suits my palette and if I want to eat beef, I will eat it. Nobody can stop me."

Udupi district VHP president, Baikady Suprasad Shetty addressing the protestors said, "BJP is always ready to protect cows from the hands of butchers. There is no
compromise when it regards ‘Go matha’ even at the cost of their life.

He alleged that the state government is doing a lot to enforce the ban on cow slaughter even though Congress supports it.

Cattle trafficking and slaughter is a big challenge to Hindu society. The Hindu society must take an oath to protect cows without any delay.

At the time of the Prashant murder case, Congress ought to have supported cow slaughter ban, but that did not happen.

Yashpal Suvarna, BJP leader said, "Everyday cow slaughter issues are being reported in India, but the politicians have been silent on the issue. The opposition party members will teach butchers and cow slaughterers a lesson. This is a warning call for Udupi MLA as well who has also remained silent.

Raghavendra Kini, district block president, Sandhya Ramesh, Kiran Kumar, former president CMC Udupi and others were present.

The protection of cows also includes in respecting, taking care of, sheltering and feeding the animal. Hypocritical Verbal support itself in form of the Press is insufficient. If people really respected their Holy cows we would not see any cows roaming the streets and having to depend on garbage & trash for survival!
Even people who have pets do not let their pets out on the street. Even thought their pets are not 'Holy'

"BJP is always ready to protect cows from the hands of butchers. There is no compromise when it regards ‘Go matha’ even at the cost of their life. When India is topping in beef export why don't you protest against that. where is your feeling for 'gomatha'. It means when somebody in our country (particularly muslims) wants to eat the beef then only you remembering the gomatha. Real chameleons !!

Recently all major channels were showing the Garbage Pile up in Delhi. One could notice several cows feeding on the waste and garbage. Wonder what those cows were eating. Paper, Plastic and rubbish maybe. Where are the protectors of 'Ga Mata. They can spend any money on posters, banners, leaflets and waste valuable manhours to have protests but cannot find a place to keep and feed the stray cows. What a shame.

only 10 members...the group has diluted and waning day by day....next protest with 5 members and the next with the president alone and some from bijapur migrant labours...cow is not holy anymore but its more than a political tool and weapon to fool the general public...India is after animals and not after human beings...

Very strange protest by cow suppliers and hate mongers. These are the very people who transport cows to the beef exporting factories in Gujarat owned by bjp members. Why cant the go to Gujarat and protest in front of the factories. Why cant they put pressure on central govt to ban cow meat all over india. Why are they doing drama. All these people are jobless and hired by BJP. I think according to these people state govt is run by minorities. for everyones information, there are many Indian Hindus who consume beef. Will these hate mongers urge these Hindu brothers/sisters to avoid consuming beef.
