Bengaluru, Nov 5: The State Cabinet approved Rs 100 crore each for the 6 cities - Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, Tumakuru and Davangere - selected for development as Smart Cities by the Centre.
The five-year project with Rs 100 crore funding from the State Government for each year would have an equal fund share from the Union government.
Karnataka has already submitted detailed project report for all the 6 cities under the project.
Twenty five Taluk hospitals and two district hospitals (Ramanagar and Yadgir) would soon have well equipped Intensive Care Units(ICU) with ventilators and other modern equipments, as per another decision taken by the State Cabinet.
Briefing reporters after the State Cabinet meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the State Cabinet has approved Rs 22 crore for the 25 Taluk hospitals and two district hospitals.
World Class Art Museum in Bengaluru on the lines of Amsterdam
Move over Van Gogh Art Museum in Amsterdam. The knowledge capital of India is set to have its own World Class Art Museum in Bengaluru on the lines of the famous Van Gogh Museum at Amsterdam.
The proposed museum will come up in the 468-acre Tatguni Estate, off Bengaluru on the Kanakapura Road, which was home for the World famous Russian Artist Svetoslav Roerich and his Indian actor-wife Devika Rani.
The Siddaramaiah cabinet at its meeting on Thursday cleared the proposal for setting up the World Class Art Museum in the Tatguni Estate.
The State Cabinet approved the plan and grant of Rs25cr for the project that would come up in the 468 acre Tataguni Estate.
The proposed art museum would have art exhibition halls, an auditorium, a mini-theatre to screen documentaries and other amenities.
The State government had decided to take up the project as part of its commitment to preserve the art legacy of Roerich and also the serene environment of the sprawling estate.
Speaking to reporters after the State Cabinet meeting, minister T B Jayachandra said the State Government has already taken up the renovation works in the estate.
The Tatguni Estate has a farmhouse, art studio and a garden of aromatic trees among others.
Many artifacts and material used by the Roerichs have been stored in a safe room till the renovation work is completed.
