Bhatkal, Nov 12: In a tragic incident during the Deepavali festival, two teenage sisters allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday November 11.
Sunitha Shankar Gowda (17) and Mangala Shankar Gowda (15) are persons deceased. They were both found hanging from a tree at Salado village in Honnavar taluk.
As per the information available, both sisters asked their mother money to buy new clothes for Deepavali. Their mother gave them Rs 3,000, but both the girls reportedly demanded more. The mother could not afford to give more.
The sisters were later found handing by ropes side by side on a tree.
Sunitha was studying in 10th standard while Mangala was studying in 8th standard at Vinayak high school in Kolakki Village.
The family is said to be from a poor economical background.
A case has been registered at Honnavar police station. Further investigation is going on.
