Udupi: College student dies in bike accident at Santhekatte

Udupi, Nov 12: A youth who was seriously injured in an accident on the night of Sunday November 8 breathed his last on Thursday November 12.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Cornelio, son of Thomas and Alice Cornelio, residents of LVT, Santhekatte.

Sunil was riding home after attending a wedding function when he suddenly lost balance and the bike skid. Sunil who got thrown off into the roadside rainwater channel sustained serious injuries. He was later shifted to a hospital by occupants of a passing car, sources said.

After fighting for life for nearly five days, Sunil passed away at around 9.30 am on Thursday.

He was a third year BCom student of Milagres College, Kallianpur.

A case is yet to be registered.

    2 wheeler manufacturers, dealers not bothered of youngsters life. It is the duty of parents avoid riding 2 wheelers of their childrens. Bikes are dangerous motor run vehicles total exposure for serious injury resulting in death. My sincere sypathies to the youth family.

    The Two wheeler vehicles must be designed & manufactured and released for Indian population with max speed of 40KMPH.

    Secondly the authorities must provide & restrict the movement of the Two wheeler vehicles only in Service roads to prevent these kinds of tragedies.

    Hundreds of young lost lives would have been alive and working and caring their wives/parents if only the bikes were designed not to cross 40 KMH. Anyway feel sad to say RIP.

    Very sorry to hear the news. Parents to blame on one side and not to be blamed on the other side. Hope everyone understands why. In Udupi too I have seen underage children driving two wheelers and blatantly violating all traffic rules. Just stand on K M Marg and you can just see this!. Udupi police are not as strict as their Mangalore counterparts.

    Where is the question of underage driving? He is a final year degree student and is permitted to ride a vehicle. Ultimately, a young life is lost and that is saddening.
