Kasargod: 65-year-old home-alone lady bludgeoned to death

Kasargod, Nov 12: In a suspected murder, an elderly home-alone lady was found dead at her house in Kanhangad here Thursday November 12.

The deceased has been identified as Janaki Amma (65), a resident near Kanhangad district hospital.

It is suspected that she was bludgeoned to death during a robbery attempted. There were marks of assault on her body and her head was also wounded.

It is said that Janaki was staying alone. The neighbours who grew suspicious on hearing the radio playing non-stop from her house peeped in through the window and saw Janaki lying in a pool of blood.

The neighbours immediately informed the Hosadurga police, who rushed to the spot.

Her husband Ramachandra had died a few years ago and her son Girish is said to be staying with his family at Trissur. Her daughter Geetha is also married and hence Janaki Amma was staying alone. The police suspect that she was killed by robbers.

Forensic experts and canine squad arrived at the spot.

Police team led by DSP Dr A Srinivas and DySP Harischandra Nayak is investigating.
