Bengaluru, Nov 13 (DHNS): Home Minister G Parameshwara took a dig at the BJP and said that the party is politicising the Madikeri incident, where a VHP member died during Tipu Jayanthi celebrations.
Speaking to mediapersons on Thursday, Parameshwara said that strict action will be initiated against those who take law into their own hands. He added that the BJP is free to raise any issues and objections in the upcoming State legislature session. The Opposition party is politicising the incident and it is not right to politicise every issue. The Opposition should only give the ruling party constructive criticism, he said.
On VHP’s plan to organise a State-wide protest against the incident on Friday, the minister said the police have taken necessary steps to ensure law and order prevails across the State. Directions have been issued to the police to take strict action against those who violate the law of the land, he said.
Congress candidates
Asked about the selection of Congress candidates for the upcoming legislative council polls, Parameshwara, who is also KPCC president, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and himself will soon shortlist the probable names. The party high command will finalise the candidates, he added.
CID probe
This apart, Parameshwara told a private new channel that the State government has ordered a CID probe into the charges against Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya's wife, who reportedly accepted bribe to award a contract in the Social Welfare department. Anjaneya had denied the charges.
