Mangaluru, Nov 14: Various official programmes lined up for November 14 and 15 in the district have been postponed, as prohibitory orders issued under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code stand extended till 10 pm on November 15.
Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Ibrahim, said that the Children's Festival proposed to be held on Saturday and Sunday at Pilikula has been put off, taking into account the volatile situation in the district. The programme, 'Childline Se Dosti' planned to be held by Childline Mangalore - 1098 from November 14 onward at Pilikula Dr Shivaram Karanth Nisargadhama also has been postponed. Programmes slated to be held from November 16 to 20 will however, be organized as planned, a release stated.
District unit of BJP said that the 'BJP Janasankalpa Yatre' which it had planned to undertake from Subrahmanya to Kateel on Saturday has been temporarily postponed in view of the occurrence of unwarranted incidents and section 144 having been clamped all over the district. It said in a release that the new date would be made known shortly.
The motor bike rally which was slated to be held on behalf of 'Sahyadri Sanchaya' organization from the city to the project area at Yettinahole in protest against the arrogant stand of the government to go ahead with the project has been postponed to November 22.
