Mangaluru, Nov 14: MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, who noted that Harish's was the eighth murder to have occurred in the state during the last one month, added that the death of Harish was sponsored by Congress. He accused the administration of trying to twist this murder like they did in the case of Kuttappa's killing at Madikeri. He said he would pressurize the central government to undertake inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation, if the government tries to mislead investigation in this case.
Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat said that the Sangh Parivar would be making efforts to pool ten lac rupees and hand over this compensation to the poor family of slain Harish. He hoped that this would be the last death that is caused because of efforts being made by the government to foment enmity between different communities by celebrating Tipu Jayanthi. He said he is requesting the state government to shed politics and display humanitarian concerns.
Bantwal block BJP committee president, G Anand, addressing a press conferene at B C Road on Friday November 13, criticized minister, Ramanath Rai, for making efforts to project Harish as a Congress activist. He said that the party will intensify its demand for effective investigation in the case if arrests of culprits involved are not made within 48 hours.
Former MLA, A Rukmaya Poojary, questioned as to how a meeting was held at Bantwal the previous day without permission, and why no effort was made to either stop the meeting or take legal steps against the guilty. He also wondered why no case was registered for holding meeting without permission even after the meeting concluded, and why case of disruption of peace was not filed, when the policemen are able to take cognizance of cases against Hindu youngsters on their own and file cases.
Bantwal municipal councillor, A Govind Prabhu, said that as per his information, Samiulla had raised an alarm when miscreants came to attack the duo, at which Harish asked Samiulla to run away. The attackers thereafter chased Harish and murdered him, he stated.
Rajesh Naik Ulipadiguthu, K Padmanabha Kottary, and several other leaders were present at the press conference.
