Dubai, Nov 14: Canara Catholic Fujairah (CCF) celebrated its decennial anniversary with a gala fun-filled event on Friday November 13 at Beach Motel, Fujairah.
The programme commenced with a prayer dance by Shanvi, Pearl, Geana, and Lenora. The dynamic president of CCF, Melwin Vas welcomed the gathering.
The CCF choir sang a melodious welcome song. The programme was ably anchored by well-known compere Roshan D’Silva.
All the past presidents of CCF and the committee members inaugurated the event by cutting the 10th anniversary cake.
Fr Arul Sekar, principal of St Mary’s Catholic High School, Fujairah graced the occasion as the chief guest. He congratulated the members of CCF for their service in the society and in the Fujairah parish.
Joseph Mattias of Merit Freight Systems and Andrew Aranha Dubai were guests of honour. Joseph Mathias emphasized on teaching the children their mother tongue Konkani and the Mangalurean traditions. He also entertained the crowd with his melodious Konkani numbers.
Sponsors of the event were honoured by the chief guests. The winners of Talent Day competition were all given the awards. Two children of CCF, Sharon Vas and Jenisa Snowia Fernandes were felicitated for their excellent performance in CBSE Grade 12 board exams held in March 2015.
President Melwin Vas praised the contribution of all the ex-presidents by giving them each a bouquets. He also mentioned the simple beginning held at the residence of Prakash Rodrigues 10 years back with the help of Roy Veigas and Robert Fernandes.
Soulful songs were presented by Wilson, Loy, Melwyn and young Lerrisa and Andrea. DJ Lancy played foot-tapping music keeping the crowd in full spirit till the very end.
