Bantwal, Nov 18: Parents of Prashant Poojary from Moodbidri, who was slain in purported attack by communal elements a few weeks back, extended humanitarian aid to the family of Harish Poojary residing at Helegetu, Navoor in the taluk, who was recently killed by merciless attackers.
Prashant's parents, Anand Poojary and Yashoda, visited Harish's parents, Srinivas Poojary and Seetamma, and also his sister, Mithilakshi, on Monday evening and tried to provide them solace. They also handed over one lac rupees to Harish's family to help them cope up with the crisis it has been facing.
Speaking to media persons, Yashoda said that like her own family, Harish's family was deep in grief after losing the family's only son. With tears rolling down her eyes, she wished that no one suffers the agony of having to grieve over their lost sons. She urged the police to arrest the killers of Harish immediately and to take preemptive measures to avoid recurrence of such murders in future. She also expressed the opinion that it would be better to hand over both these cases to Central Bureau of Investigation.
At the same time, out of ten lac rupees promised by Hindu outfits, three lac rupees was handed over to the family of Harish. Prakash Anchan, president of Durga Friends Club, Karenki, handed over Rs 30,000 to the family on behalf of the club.
BJP leaders, Rajesh Naik Ulipadyguthu, Udaykumar Rao, and municipal Councillor, Govind Prabhu, handed over cheques for one lac rupees each. BJP district vice president, Devadas Shetty, said that the balance amount would be given to the family within the next two days.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader, Jagadish Shenava, BJP block committee president, G Anand, zilla panchayat vice president, Satish Kumpala, and others were present.
