Mangaluru, Dec 3: "In an incident which took place at Mudungarakatte of Balepuni Village on November 30, a person was assaulted by attackers who mistook him for a teacher who is alleged to have misbehaved with a woman. In addition a few media persons reported that the person attacked was a teacher of Hidayathul Islam Juma Masjid and Madarasa. This is a false report as the person who was assaulted has no connection to the Hidayathul Islam Juma Masjid and Madarasa or to the incident," said Abdul Rehaman, a social activist at a press meet here on Thursday December 3.

He further added, "Residents of the village are living in harmony without any discrimination of caste or religion. This is just a strategy by the miscreants to create communal disharmony. The media which published this misleading information should also publish our clarifications."

President U M Aboobakar, M K Ali, C H Abdul Rehaman, Rafeeq Mudungarakatte were present at the meet.
