Mangaluru, Dec 26: The Kadri police have arrested the main accused in connection to a Facebook post that allegedly abused and threatened social activist and convener of Citizens' Forum for Mangalore Development Vidya Dinker.
Punith Raj Kottari, co-convener of Bajrang Dal Mangaluru unit, was arrested on Saturday December 26.
It is learnt that Punith has been produced in court and sent to judicial custody till December 28.
Vidya Dinker had filed a complaint against Punith and 21 others for posting abusive comments against her on Facebook, after she complained against Bajrang Dal for forcibly stopping the screening of 'Dilwale' movie in multiplexes in the city. The activists of Bajrang Dal, in protest against actor Shah Rukh Khan's comment on intolerance, had on December 21 protested against the movie and stopped its screening.
Vidya Dinker had also stated in her complaint that Facebook page called 'Veera Kesari' and its followers had uploaded remarks threatening to physically assault, rape and murder her. Based on her complaint, a case was filed in Kadri police station.
In another development, Pandeshwar police arrested six persons for forcibly stopping the screening of 'Dilwale' movie. They were later released on bail.
