Kuwait, Dec 28: United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK), a group of like-minded people turned their aim and dream of helping the underprivileged into reality for the sixth time during their 'Fun-Filled Evening 2015', with a successful fullhouse show staged to gather funds for a charitable cause. The show was presented to a large audience of over a thousand people at the American International School, Maidan Hawally on November 13. The event comprised melodious songs, foot-tapping dances and a Konkani social comedy drama 'Tuje Khatir', written and directed by Ronald D’Souza, Mulky.
The proceeds amounting to Rs 30,53,162 in all, was donated to St Joseph Prashanth Nivas, Jeppu, Mangaluru, India.
UMK members handed over the cheque to Sr Sylvia Fernandes, head of Prashanth Nivas and spent some time there with the sick, elderly, handicapped and mentally ill inmates. The residents entertained the guests with their talents.
Sr Sylvia Fernandes thanked UMK and its generous supporters and assured all of keeping them in their prayers.
So far, UMK has contributed Rs one crore within a span of six years in their good deed and cause of helping the underprivileged.
On behalf of UMK family, Gurkar (leader) Agnel Saldanha expressed his gratitude to all the generous sponsors, well-wishers, and the audience who whole-heartedly supported and contributed for the noble cause of UMK while providing an encouragement to UMK’s new faces and talents.
