The incident described by Ms. Reilly is regularly taking place. I am told that some of these tricksters are from across the border. What is worrying is that the Police are aware of this problem but surely with their intelligence network, they can nab the culprits. Why is this not being done, or will they swing into action after some politician or dignitary is similarly afftected?

Last month my sister who was visiting my Aunt at Bendore, was driving and waiting in the car at Hampankatta. She was siting in the car waiting for my aunt who had just stepped out to purchase something. As she stepped out and walked away from the car, a bystander pointed out to the door saying that she had dropped something. My sister looked out of the car and noticed some 10 Rupee notes on the road, just outside the door. She stepped out of the car to pick up the notes and suddenly realised that something was amiss.

In a flash, she realised her hand bag was missing from the car. She had in her bag, Rs. 20,000/-, her credit cards, cell phone and personal stuff. She lodged a police complaint and was informed by the Police that they are aware of a gang of thieves operating in that area. While she was at the Police Station, another person entered with a similar complaint.

I do not think that it is that easy to catch a thief or convict him the way Joe Gonsalves writes. If they have done it due to utter poverty then why do robberis take place in rich countries? Why should we have surveilence cameras all over the places?

I do agree that at some instances our sociaty is responsible for such things. But most of the time I think its a thinking of a person to make easy money in a short time. Well done Barke Police keep up the good work.

It is very easy to arrest and convict the culprits. However it is necessary to go deep into this problem and find out as to why these humans like us all have taken to thefts. May it is due to dire poverty. One can easily condemn and make culprtis of people but we have an obligation to coucel these poor people who may have indulged in these misdeads because of circumstances.

Can any one think of making decent human being out of these people by making an attempt to lead them and perhaps even provide them with jobs for their living. In this context in order to prevent occurance of these kind of occurances, it is worthwhile considering a foum of citizens to work with the department of law and order and prevent such crimes.

Good job done by cops. congratulations. in a very short period of time the culprits are apprehended. I personally feel that the some social community should organise awarness program on how to deal with theft and find solutions. Most of the robbers are not born but created by the society. They should be counselled first so that they may lead a honest life in future. every criminal wants to have or look forward to have a second chance even those who are in condemend cells.

Let us hope for the best and congratulations again to Smart cops.

While being strict on the punishment that is given,I think counseling should be done to these misdirected humans. Try to convince the robbers of the absurdity of what they are doing and provide them alternate source of income.Maybe provide them a job or explain them how they can be good enterprising youth with the same skills & intelligence they have used to rob & steal. It just needs a change of direction.

Thanks god... At last police caught some of the theives after many years. The past robbery seems to be with support of police which could not catch anyone till today since 5 years. Now, they will be released from bail and they go and start again with their business. What is the use of catching them???? Punishment should be remembered by them when think of robbery.
