Moodbidri: Aug 30: He is mad of marriages and has already married 7 women. But this did not satisfy him. Hence, he decided to have another marriage. But fate and his fortune which had faithfully accompanied him so far had something else in store for him this time around. The hero met police as villains who spoiled his dream marrying for the eighth time.
Rajesh Shetty, a resident of Beltangady is a bus cleaner in profession. Hence, it was an easy task for him to come into contact of young unmarried women. He used befriend them and had even managed to marry 7 young women from B C Road, Ujire, Ashwathapur, Aliyur etc. These women however, belonged to Bunt, Gowda and Billava communities.
After marrying a particular woman, he used to stay with her for sometime and later send her to parental house saying that he had leave to far-off places on duty. But in order to keep up their faith, he used to visit them at their parental every now and then.
Recently he married a woman of Aliyur and was staying in a rented room at Shirtady. Interestingly, she is his seventh wife. As she was pregnant he had sent her to her parental house, recently. Meanwhile he was planning to marry another woman.
He befriended a woman from Shirtady and even met her parents. After talking to them, he fixed the wedding for August 31 at Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple at Bappanadu. However, after a week he called them and told to change the place to Shri Annapoorneshwari Temple at Kodyadka with a reason that Bappandau temple will be crowded these days since a lot of devotees visit the temple in the month of Shravana.
However, this sudden change of plans made the parents of the girls to doubt about him. They immediately informed about him to local Bajrangadal leaders. When they latters started enquiring about him, his colourful life which was hidden from everyone came to light. He immediately spilled beans. They handed him to police who managed to elicit information about his past.
Though he has finally been caught, it is only after spoiling the life of 7 young women. Law may take suitable action against Rajesh, but no one can give back to these 7 women what they have lost. In a way it is a warning bell to all those young women and their parents who agree to give their daughters in marriage to someone unknown just on the basis of his sugar-coated words and luxury living.
