New Delhi, Aug 30: Hundreds of agitated parents damaged public vehicles and hurled stones at a state-run school here on Thursday after a sting by a private news channel showed one of its teachers allegedly forcing girl students to act in pornographic films. Nine people including a municipal councillor were injured in the violence and police retaliation.

The violence erupted around 1.30 pm after a television news channel telecast a sting operation showing Uma Khurana, Mathematics teacher of Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalaya on Asaf Ali Marg in central Delhi, allegedly forcing girl students into prostitution and to act in porn films.

After viewing the clip, hundreds of people gathered outside the school and smashed windowpanes of the school building demanding immediate arrest of the teacher.

The school authorities have suspended the teacher.

The infuriated people also damaged several buses and torched a police vehicle.

"Madam Khurana should be handed over to the public and we will mete her justice ourselves. We will not spare her and the others involved in it," said Neelam, mother of a Class V student.

"We can't believe what was shown on the television. The matter should be thoroughly probed by a judicial magistrate," said another angry parent Rajesh Kumar.

According to police, extra personnel have been deployed in the area and the situation is under control. Police had to fire tear gas shells and resort to baton charge to control the angry crowds.

"We have detained the accused and are investigating the matter. We will also be asking the news channel for tapes for further investigations," a senior police official said.

"At present our priority is to maintain law and order, so we can't say anything about the matter," the official added.
