Camberwell, Aug 30: The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Victoria (MCAV) will celebrate ‘Monthi Fest’, the Nativity of our Virgin Mary, at Manley Hall, St Mary's Anglican Church, here on Sunday September 16.

In the spirit of this celebration, which also traditionally marked the harvest festival, all the Mangaloreans will come together and enjoy traditional vegetarian foods and participate in Holy Eucharist which will be offered in Konkani.

This festive occasion will start at 11:30 am and end at 3:30 pm in Camberwell at St Mary's Anglican Church. As a vital component of the festivities, children will place flowers in honor of Mother Mary to the accompaniment of “Sokkod Sangatha Melyan” and “Moriyek Hogolsiyan”. hymns.

The “Novem Jevan” (traditional Mangalorean vegetarian food) includes 9 vegetarian dishes and our famous Vorn for dessert. There will also be the cheerful Konkani tunes played in the background whilst audience enjoy thei luck in bingo, Mangalorean trivia and lots of other entertainment.

Bert Naik, president, Colin Fernandes, vice-president, Irene Andrade, secretary, Cuby Martis, treasurer, Janet D’Mello, social secretary and Lynn Saldanha, publicity officer are the elected members of MCAV Committee for 2007-2008
