Bengaluru, Jan 2: In different accidents occurring at different parts of the state on New Year's day, six persons lost their lives, while over ten suffered injuries of varying degrees. Another was killed by his own friends. Five among the deceased died in accidents while the other was murdered.
Santosh (27) was killed by three of his friends in drunken stupor after the friends got heavily drunk when welcoming the New Year.
Nehal Konnur (18), son of a former mayor of Hubli-Dharwad city corporation, the late Firdous Konnur, and his friend, Pavan Ramesh Metrani (19), son of a local industrialist, were killed on the spot after the Innova car in which they were travelling to Goa after the New Year party collided with a truck at Tambur Cross in Kalaghatagi taluk of Dharwad district. Five others suffered serious injuries.
Prince (23) from Uppinangady died after a goods vehicle hit him when he was returning to Uppinangady in a two-wheeler after New Year celebrations at Mangaluru. Another person was injured in this incident.
Deepu (22) died at Santhekodyhalli in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagara district after his motor bike hit a roadside tree. Kiran (26) from Tirumela was killed after his car hit a tree at Managal Cross in Magadi taluk.
