Bengaluru, Jan 6: Criminal investigation department (CID) sources have claimed that they have credible evidence to prove that before Shyamprasad Shastri committed suicide in connection to the rape case against Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji, RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat had contacted him over phone and posed threats.
It may be recalled that Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math, Hosanagar, has been charged by a former Ram Katha singer attached to the Math, Premalata Shastri, of raping her repeatedly on various occasions. Those opposing this allegation claim that Premalata has been making this allegation as she was divested of the position as Ram Katha singer of the Math.
Shyamprasad Shastri was the brother of Diwakar Shastri, the husband of Premalata Shastri. Shyamprasad had reportedly been under tremendous pressure from both the sides, staunch followers of the Swamiji and those supporting the complainant, to take their sides. He had committed suicide in September 2014 by firing at himself within the compound of his house at Badekkila village in Puttur taluk.
CID police had collected details of the call made by Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat before this suicide. CID sources now claim that the report of the forensic laboratory has confirmed that the voice contained in the above call was that of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. It is also said that with this evidence at hand, the CID may soon arrest Kalladka Bhat.
