Mangaluru, Jan 7: In a shocking incident, a lady belonging to an orphanage was allegedly gang-raped by Kerala policemen and found abandoned late night on Tuesday January 6. The orphanage in question is located at Payyanur, Kerala.
Late night on Tuesday, a lady was found to have been abandoned near Haradi railway bridge in Puttur taluk. She was injured and was unconscious. Some locals admitted her into the government hospital at Puttur. When the doctors of the hospital began to conduct medical tests on her, she told them that she was gang-raped by Kerala police. Therefore, the woman was sent to Lady Goschen hospital here. She was brought to the city in an 108 ambulance service, and admitted into Lady Goschen hospital.
When the doctors proceeded to provide her treatment, it is said she refused to cooperate with them. Hospital sources said that the woman, who was suffering from depression, fled from the hospital without cooperating with the staff there. A case about the incident was filed in Bunder police station here.
It is not known as to whether the woman, who happens to be of Haryana origin, was gang-raped in running train or inside the orphanage where she was being cared for. Investigation has been undertaken.
