Tuzla (Bosnia), Sep 2: Nearly 7,000 couples locked lips in a simultaneous kiss in the northern Bosnian city of Tuzla in a bid to get a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, Tuzla's mayor Jasmin Imamovic said.
"A total of 6,980 registered couples kissed in Tuzla, to make this city enter the Guinness Book of World Records and send a message of love to the world," Imamovic, who chaired the event's jury, announced late on Saturday.
Imamovic said the city now took the lead for the "city of love" with the most couples kissing at one time, coming before Hungary with 6,613 couples and the Philippines with 6,124 couples.
The official result should be announced on Monday, and Guinness's confirmation could be expected later next week, organisers said.
A local radio station, Kameleon (Chameleon), organised Saturday's event called 'Don't Miss This Kiss' to mark its 15th anniversary.
Mass kissing in Tuzla was part of a daylong celebration filled with concerts by popular musicians from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia.
