Udupi: Fish Marketing Federation chief Yashpal Suvarna suspended over misappropriation of funds

Udupi, Jan 7: Yashpal Suvarna, chairman of SK and Udupi District Co-operative Fish Marketing Federation Ltd, has been suspended from his post through a court order, over allegations of misappropriation of funds.

Apart from Suvarna, nine directors of the Federation have also been suspended.

The order was passed by the joint registrar of the cooperative court, Mysuru.

About two years ago, Anand Salian, a member of the same Federation, had filed a case against Suvarna and others alleging misappropriation of funds and other criminal cases. In November 2015, the court had passed an order in favour of Salian, but Yashpal Suvarna had managed to bring a stay order on it. In December the stay was lifted, and an order suspending Suvarna and nine directors of the Federation was issued on Wednesday January 6 as per Section 29 C of the Karnataka Co-operative Societies Act, 1959.

Due to the suspension, Suvarna cannot regain the post of chairman for the next six years.

In Suvarna's place, Praveen Nayak, Udupi district deputy registrar has been appointed the chairman of the Federation.

Yashpal Suvarna is also the state secretary of BJP and elected member of Udupi city municipal council.

    This allegations will not stand long in High court. Everyone knows that thee is conspiracy behind this act of suspension which is hatched by previous management with support of current ruling party members. The federation has benefited from the honest management lead by Yashpal and will continue to do so after all false cases dismissed by honorable high court. Jai ho yashpal.

    i believe he is in to real estate business as well with our ex MLA ragupathi bata ... these kind of people should be beaned from public service... good decision by court.
    court should check ragupathi bhtas assset as well

    This man is the most useless corporator of Udupi. He doesn't even listen or solve even such serious issues like water problem. Just look at his extravagant purchases like shopping complexes, houses, land, expensivr SUV etc after he became corporator and fed chairman and anyone can guess how this was possible!. PM Modiji is searching Switzerland for black money and his own party members have it 100 times more!. This also shows that congress and BJP are 2 faces of the same coin!!!

    Every one knew he was the snake of Udupi BJP unit but with the blessing of Raghupathi Bhat he survied both were partners in crime, he represented Ajjarkad in the udupi CMC won with money power from the harijan colony never ever visited the area busy in swinding money in malpe fishing unit and now the dirt has split, came from trash this guy should be thrown out of BJP, so the dirt gets clean
