Mangaluru: Missing PU students traced in Palakkad

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP/DV)

Updated

Mangaluru, Feb 4: The two students of St Aloysius PU College who had gone missing a few days ago have been traced at Shoranur in Palakkad, Kerala, sources said.

Jacqueline (17), a resident of Chilimbi near Ladyhill in the city, and Smriti (17), a native of Suratkal, were found near the railway station at Shoranur on Thursday February 4.

It is learnt that the girls had left their homes as they were dejected at scoring low marks in exams and reluctant to continue their studies.

Sources said that Bunder police have gone to Shoranur to bring back the girls.

Earlier Report

Two students studying in first year PU (commerce) in St Aloysius College here have gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Although both disappeared without a clue on Monday, efforts to trace them have proved futile till now.

Jacqueline (17), a resident of Chilimbi near Ladyhill in the city, and Smriti (17), a native of Suratkal, are the two students whose whereabouts are unknown as yet. Both of them had attended college as usual on Monday morning. After waiting for their return that evening, parents of both the students filed missing complaint in Bunder police station here on that evening.

Under the directions of the city police commissioner, a special team has been formed to investigate their disappearances. Initial investigation by police department has revealed that one of the girl students was in regular touch with a student of another college. A release by the police has requested people having any information about this case to contact Bunder police station on 0824- 2220516.

DW should make inquiries on how the girls landed in shoranur.

who was instrumental? both girls are minors.

If some light is thrown on this, girls in Mangalore will guard against this kind of incidents in future.

are there criminal gangs from Mallunadu operating in Tulunadu.

The above matters are of interest to female students of mangalore as well as concerned parents.

All such things at the spur of the moment and the victims either run away or take decision to suicide. Now the college girls may be repenting for the act done by them. How much their parents worried about them should know and realise. Anyway its a happy ending. Thank God.

Thank God. These 2 teenage girls are saved.

Our special thanks to our CITY POLICE COMMISSIONER and his team. We salute you Sir.

We as a citizens failed to give a helping hand to the lost one rather prefer to condemn them. WE forget the fact that, one lost sheep requires more care than the 99 healthy, good one.

Here I also blame the parents. How much time they spend with their kids. How many times in a day, they appreciate and talk good about their kids. Is the marks what children score is everything? For me as a parent, it is the least important. Parents life should be children centred not their marks centred.

Parents as well children requires counseling.

All successful people face one type of difficult phase in life and I am sure, these children will be successful in life.

nothing to blame parents nor the system. It's the generation issue. They don't want to study, just want a lavish life. Imagine if these 2 ended up in wrong hands, they would have seen hell part of the life. forget about feeling for their parents scolding , they wouldn't be in a position to show face to anybody. any ways, foolish people. But some times I feel they should get trapped in wrong hands for a while , then only they will realize the sense of life.

The parents presence of mind and quick action in complaining to the police has worked better result. If dejected in getting low marks why go to Palakkad why not Kundapur or Mumbai or Bangalore.

Youth running away from home is not new, its been happening since decades. What we should look into is the basis of this.

Those who have grown/growing up children, will not comment helter/skelter because they know the sensitivity it involved. Advising is easy but to undergo such a situation is too testing.

Its much a relief that the girls are traced and assumedly safe in today's situation where a woman cannot go even to attend a nature's call alone.

Now a days children mentality creates rage to their parents. Without pocket money, without smart phone, without boy/girl friends, they won't survive. Going to college became a fashion & won't think about their future life. In case their parents scold them, drastic decision would be taken like suicide, missing, runaway etc. We must be announced a statutory warning in all college campus like "College career is a dangerous to life, if not take it as serious by students", what do you say?
