Modi using police to terrorise everyone: Kejriwal on JNU row

New Delhi, Feb 13 (PTI): Amid the ongoing JNU row, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using police to "terrorise everyone" even as he asserted that anti-national activities should not be tolerated under any circumstances and those guilty must be identified and punished.

His party, AAP, also attacked the Delhi Police accusing it of using "dictatorial" measures to "harass" JNU students and professors over the ongoing row in the varsity.

The party said the entire episode has brought the "anti-student" face of the BJP-led government.

"Modi ji wants to terrorise everyone by using police," Kejriwal said.

In a tweet, he said, "No anti-national activity shud be tolerated under any circumstances. Those who did it must be identified and punished" (sic).

He said no one supports anti-national forces. "But targeting innocent students using that as an excuse will prove very costly to Modi government."

AAP also alleged that BJP's student wing ABVP was involved in the "conspiracy".

The party demanded action against those who raised 'Pakistan Zindabad' and other 'anti-India' slogans, but claimed that the incident was being used to target students and professors.

"AAP condemns the way Delhi Police is using dictatorial measures to harass students and professors of the JNU. During the entire episode some facts have come to the light that ABVP is behind this conspiracy.

"It was FTII first and then it was Rohith Vemula and now it is JNU. This has brought anti-students face of this government. Modi ji should stop oppression of students," the party said.

AAP leader Ashutosh targeted the Centre saying the Modi government was using JNU crisis as a pretext to distract people from the real issues of economy.

A group of JNU students organised an event on the campus on Tuesday, on the anniversary of execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, and shouted slogans against his hanging, despite the varsity administration having cancelled the permission following a complaint by ABVP members, who termed the activity as "anti-national".

Following which, JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested yesterday on sedition charges.

Reconciliation and slow peddling against the agitators by the government would have better way to tackle the problem to maintain peace and serenity.

BJP Government will use any strategy simply to survive at this whirlwind of problems. In the very historical "make in India" fireworks at Mumbai, the Siva Sena leader was ignored.

In Kerala while Mr. Modi came for the statue dedication of the former CM and Congress leader of Kerala at Quilon, Sri. R. Shankar, the Congress CM of Kerala was systematically kept away from the function breaking the political protocol by the straight order from New Delhi, probably directed by the 2nd in command Amith Shaw, the brain power and total package of the BJP.

If events are moving in this direction, using the police to chock the opposition party and party leaders is not a surprising event.

These traitors who raised anti-national slogans should be hanged. We should teach a lesson to those who support them. They have no right whatsoever to live in this country. You cannot piss in the plate where you ate. The cancer will spread to other parts if not rooted out early. Kijriwal has again shown his true colors.

Mr. A.K., if you can identify those traitors, better tell them to be grateful for being in a free country like India. If they had done this act in Communist countries they would been shot point blank, without trial. Don't politicise each and every issue.

Probably ours is the only country which has taken democracy too seriously. Word secularism and tolerance has been bastardized to a point where there are no limits anymore. I can still accept somebody talking ill about religions and getting away with it, but its sad to see politicians siding with anti nationals. Especially looking at the way politicians are siding with the anti-nationals, I feel what would be their stance if the attack on parliament claimed any politicians life - would they have had supported these rabid elements?

Rather, these so called innocents are holding development for ransom on silly pretexts. Why AAP did not condemn the anti-national grumblings out right first, before ABVP did it?
