AI flight delayed due to fight between cabin crew members

New Delhi, Mar 10 (PTI): A Thiruvananthapuram-bound Air India flight from here carrying 158 passengers including some Members of Parliament and bureaucrats onboard was delayed by two hours after a fight broke out between two cabin crew members inside the cabin.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Air India has suspended the crew members, pending enquiry, the airline said.

The incident took place this evening when Air India flight was readying for Kochi for departure. The flight was, however, bound for Thiruvananthapuram.

"We have suspended the two cabin crew members for delaying the flight. We will not tolerate any indiscipline at the airline," Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani said here tonight.

The airline deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers, he added. According to sources, initially it was an argument over some personal issue between a junior cabin crew and the second senior cabin crew, which later turned into a full scale scuffle.

"However, it turned into heated exchange of words, forcing the commander to intervene. But when they refused to relent, the operations in charge decided to offload both of them and deploy new crew in their place, "sources said.

Air India, however, said that there was minor altercation between two cabin crew. The flight later took off at around 8 pm.

Fight between cabin crew is very very dangerous for the safety of the passengers. They should be demoted to ground staff. Otherwise, these cabin crews may fight again and it might lead to a plane crash just like German airline which happened last year. ( fight between captain and the co -pilot.)

    Without prejudice to anyone :-
Parliamentarians get taste of behaviour in parliament.
This is a lesson for the unruly behaviour exhibited by some of our elected which the crew has adopted......can't blame them !

Koi kisi ka suntha nahin. We have created a culture of 'I am right', from top. The humility, service mindedness, and faith in the system is lost.

We surely will witness similar incidents from every work area. If you have affiliation to the mighty, then might is right today.

The flight should have taken off as scheduled.

I think they too are disgusted like passengers. They have not told exactly the reason, but can think about Parliament and bureaucrats Services? But they could fight after flight or by Management. Now they have no Job ,a big Scandal which might effect their further Job chances.Hope further flights will be safe and without fight in the air.

It would be wrong to dismiss them immediately for this misconduct. Suspending them now and conducting a proper inquiry procedure is the right way to do. If they are dismissed without following the disciplinary action procedure they will be happy,
as they will be reinstated by the courts with back wages.

    People,

Air India should appoint 2 crew members in each flight for boxing...good entertainment...I am sure other airlines will follow this...they can remove few front seats and make a boxing ring there....trust me, AI will start making profits...

Fighting in between two cabin crew members and the authorities have suspended them. Why suspension. Dismiss them from the Job.

There are many aspirants waiting for the job. Recruit and appoint fresh crew members.

    Humbleness is required.
    Not Intolerance.

These fighting cabin crew members must be related to some top officials of Air India or some ministers, hence they cannot be fired.
