Bangalore, Oct 1: Karnataka civic polls have given the JD (S) a clear lead and left the BJP in third place.
Results have completely changed the equation between coalition partners the JD (S) and the BJP who are fighting over the transfer of power.
Out of the total 4934 seats contested, 4018 have been declared. The JD (S) leads with 1314 and the Congress is in second place with 1284 seats.
"This election result is the verdict given by the people and we have to accept it as it is. As far as discussion with Yashwant Sinha is concerned, who is emissary of the BJP from Delhi, I have discussed and if need be we will meet again,'' said Deve Gowda.
The BJP has managed to bag 942 seats while independent and others have got 544.
The JD (S) is supposed to hand over the chief minister's post to the BJP on Wednesday but there's been trouble after a BJP minister accused the chief minister Kumaraswamy of plotting to kill him.
Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has been parked in Bangalore to resolve the crisis and on Sunday evening he met JD (S) chief Deve Gowda but the talks were inconclusive.
Will it tilt the equations in Karnataka?
