Fears grow for Indian priest 'kidnapped by ISIS' who may be crucified on Good Friday

Aden, Mar 24 (Daily Mail) : An Indian Catholic priest kidnapped by ISIS terrorist in Yemen earlier this month is due to be crucified on Good Friday, religious groups claim.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil, 56, was taken by Islamist gunmen, reportedly linked to ISIS, who attacked an old people's home in Aden, southern Yemen, killing at least 15 people, on March 4.

Several religious groups have posted on social media that they have received reports that Father Tom, from Bangalore, India, will be crucified tomorrow during the Christian holiday.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil was kidnapped by ISIS gunmen in Yemen, and fears grow that the Indian Catholic priest will be crucified on Good Friday
A group of South African nuns called the Franciscan Sisters of Siessen, posted this week: 'Was informed that the Salesian priest, Fr.Tom who was kidnapped by ISIS from the Missionaries of Charity Home in Yemen is being tortured and is going to be crucified on Good Friday. This calls for serious concerted prayers from all of us.'

Yemeni authorities have blamed ISIS for the March 4 attack on the refuge for the elderly operated by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in main southern city Aden.

Four gunmen posing as relatives of one of the guests at the home burst inside, killing four Indian nuns, two Yemeni female staff members, eight elderly residents and a guard.

'According to our information, the extremists who attacked the elderly care home in Aden have kidnapped priest Tom Uzhunnalil, a 56-year-old Indian, who was taken to an unknown location,' a Yemeni security official said.

'We are aware that no group has yet claimed the criminal attack... but information points to the involvement of Daesh,' said the source, who asked to remain anonymous, using an Arabic acronym for IS.

However, members of Father Tom's order have denied that he is due to be crucified, saying they have no information on his health or whereabouts.
We have absolutely no information on Fr Tom,' Father Mathew Valarkot, spokesman for the Salesians' Bangalore province, told UCANews.

'But even today we do not know who has taken him and what their motives are because no one has claimed responsibility.'

The Vatican's Secretary of State Pietro Parolin said earlier this month that Pope Francis 'was shocked and profoundly saddened' to learn of 'this act of senseless and diabolical violence.'

Aden had been racked by lawlessness since Hadi supporters, backed by Gulf Arab military forces, drove fighters from Yemen's Iran-allied Houthi group from the city in July last year.

The Yemeni government has repeatedly vowed to restore security to the city but so far had had little success.

Al-Qaeda and IS have stepped up attacks in Aden, targeting mainly loyalists and members of a Saudi-led coalition battling Huthi rebels and their allies since March last year.

Al-Qaeda distanced itself from the mass shooting Friday, saying it was not responsible.

Why the government is allowing this kind of rumors to spread and keeping quiet instead of clarifying the facts.

continued from my earlier post -

7 - Why the most of the people killed by ISIS are muslims ?
You should know this better than me. You are deliberately trying to misguide the reader with this question. majority of muslims that isis has killed are shia. they are basically killing anybody who is not adhering to their version of islam.

8 - Why it was observed by some captured victims (who escaped)that they are not praying like the normal muslims do ?.

    because they may be abnormal.

All i want to say is that please stop with some ridiculous conspiracy theories. Stop blaming everybody but the actual culprits. If you want to reply to my comment please provide source of your information.

I hope and pray that the Priest returns safely.
There are many unanswered questions about this ISIS.
1- Why it is not possible for all the superpowers to eliminate them ?. The US, UK, Russia, France, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and many more countries are attacking them still they are getting stronger.
2- How come the weapons used by ISIS are made in USA.
3- Why the wounded ISIS men are taken by Israel ambulances and treated in Israeli hospitals.
4 - Why they are not attacking or threatening Israel which is the number one enemy of muslims ?
5- Why Israel is not concerned about ISIS ?
6 - How come the chief of ISIS was a former agent of Israeli spy agency ?
7 - Why the most of the people killed by ISIS are muslims ?
8 - Why it was observed by some captured victims (who escaped)that they are not praying like the normal muslims do ?.

It all seems like a group created and funded by someone to spoil muslims image.

    Ahmed,

let me try to answer your questions :

1.1- Why it is not possible for all the superpowers to eliminate them ?. The US, UK, Russia, France, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and many more countries are attacking them still they are getting stronger.

I dont think that they are getting any stronger. They aren't being destroyed because the countries you mentioned have not really sent their ground troops. In a warfare you cant really achieve much by simply ping some bombs. Ground troops are needed to occupy the territories.

2- How come the weapons used by ISIS are made in USA.
Isis got most of their weapons from iraqi military when they deserted their positions. You cant simply say that if Isis is using americans weapons they might be given directly by americans. So by your logic is terrorist are using AK-47, that doesnt mean russians are giving it to them. But you will never think that way because you want to blame america and israel.

3- Why the wounded ISIS men are taken by Israel ambulances and treated in Israeli hospitals.

How do you know this? Please provide the sources from whome you heard/read this from.

4 - Why they are not attacking or threatening Israel which is the number one enemy of muslims ?

Isis are not that foolish to threaten israel at this stage. currently their priority is fighting asad on one side and fighting iran backed iraq on the other.

5- Why Israel is not concerned about ISIS ?
Why should they? They have a powerful military. They have complete confidence in their military that they can take on anybody.

6 - How come the chief of ISIS was a former agent of Israeli spy agency ?
I dont know whether its true, so please give me the source for the same. Even if it is true, it wont really matter. Bin laden was formerly backed by CIA. But that didnt stop him from turing against USA.

Who is ruling Yemen? Why they allow such rumors to spread? What they get out of it? Is it a reward for his selfless service? Nobody can be inhuman to that extent.
