Afghanistan condemns Lahore attack

Kabul, March 28 (IANS): Afghanistan has condemned the suicide bombing that ripped through a park full of Christian revellers in Lahore city, capital of the Pakistan's Punjab province, said the country's presidential palace on Monday.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, people and government of Pakistan," Xinhua cited the Afghan presidential palace as saying in a tweet.

"We reiterate that the scourge of terrorism has no boundaries and must be confronted jointly through increased regional cooperation," the palace said.

A suicide bomb ripped through Gate No.1 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal park in Lahore on Sunday evening, which left at least 72 people killed and over 250 injured, Pakistani officials said on Monday.

A Pakistani Taliban splinter group has claimed responsibility of the attack, saying it deliberately targeted Christians celebrating Easter.
