Dubai, Mar 29: Winter Volleyball Trophy 2016 tournament was held under the auspices of the Indian Cultural Society, Karnataka Chapter, UAE at Indoor Sports Ground Rashidiya Strokes Sports Hall on March 18.
A total of 8 top teams participated in the event. It is virtually a platform for Indian volleyball players to exhibit their talent on the international ground. The match was played between the youngest player and some national level players.
Participating teams are as follows:

7. Only Fresh
8. Mangalore Friends club
In the first A round semifinal match, Leads Ace Spikers performed some stunning shots and blocks and defeated Jasbaa SC by a margin of 28-26 and 29-27 to enter the final match.
Second B round semifinal match witnessed a splendid performance played between Only Fresh Team and Dubai Duty Free wherein Only Fresh Team defeated its opponent and entered the finals. Their score was 25-19 and 25-22 points.
Prior to the start of the final match, in the presence of both the finalist team members and Indian Cultural Society, UAE, Karnataka Chapter, president, general secretary, guests and members along with NRI school children sung the UAE and Indian national anthems.
In the exciting final battle for the Winter Volleyball Trophy between Only Fresh vs Leads Ace Spikers, a remarkably splendid performance was put up and 'Only Fresh' team emerged winners with a margin of 25-16 and 25-14 points. The final match entertained the entire audience.
During the presentation ceremony, Indian Cultural Society, UAE Karnataka Chapter, its executives Ashir Chukkabettu, Arif Madikeri, Sarfaraz Kapu, Suleiman Madikeri and the event's main sponsors Ganesh Gopal Krishna, executive manager sales, Dorman Smith, Green Line Tailors chief executive Nasir and renowned national volleyball referee Mohideen and Indian Cultural Society’s different department executive members were present.
General secretary of Indian Cultural Society, Nasir Karaje handed over the trophy and cash prize to the winners namely 'Only Fresh' team members.
'Leads Ace Spikers' team members were awarded the runners up trophy and cash prize which were distributed by Ganesh Gopal Krishna, executive manager sales, Dorman Smith.
Suleiman Kuppendare Madikeri, executive member, Indian Cultural Society presented the best smasher award to former Indian volleyball player Anoop D’Costa of Leads Ace Spikers.
The main sponsor of the event Ganesh Gopal Krishna, in his message congratulated the organizers for their dedication and zeal in organizing this huge tournament and wished them success in the future. He also congratulated the winning teams and the participating teams for playing with a good spirit of sportsmanship.

Arif Madikeri, secretary, expressed his gratitude to Rashidiya Strokes Sports Management for its great patronage by allocating their indoor ground for this event. He also compered the prize distribution ceremony.
The entire day's event was supported by full house volleyball supporters and audience who encouraged the players to play their best.
