Mangaluru, Apr 3: The hunt for the suspects in the sensational murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga has taken the police to as far as Goa and Andaman Islands, sources said.
Vinayak Baliga (51) was hacked to death early morning on March 21 near his house at PVS Kala Kunj Road, Kodialbail here when he was on the way to Lord Venkataramana Temple.
Reliable sources said that the city crime branch (CCB) police have formed two teams to hunt down the suspects in the case. While one team has gone to Goa, the other has left for Andaman Islands, sources said.
The police have already arrested two contract killers in the case, and as per sources, the police believe that Yuva Brigade leader Naresh Shenoy is a prime suspect. Shenoy has been missing for over a week and the police have already raided his house. It is said that two other suspects against whom the CCB issued lookout notices are associated with Naresh Shenoy.
Sources said that the suspects used to frequent a temple in Goa, and it is surmised that they may have fled to the same place after the murder.
Meanwhile, the police are yet to trace the Qualis that was reportedly used as a getaway vehicle by the killers, and so also the person who was driving it.
It is also learnt that on Saturday April 2, two persons including a woman were called for questioning.
