Mangaluru, Apr 9: Prof Narendra Nayak, president of Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations, has alleged that Karnataka home minister Dr Parameshwar has asked the city police commissioner here to 'go slow' on the investigation into the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Pandurang Baliga.
He has further alleged that the home minister did so at the behest of a Brahmin godman who is deemed to be close to the minister.
"This explains why the police have been unable to arrest one of the accused, Naresh Shenoy, who is at large although two weeks have elapsed since the murder," he has stated in his press statement.
Nayak says that this goes to show that the state government headed by the Congress is in no way different from other communal parties against which it has been fighting. He has added that this has brought into the open the unholy alliance between religion and politics.
Vinayak Baliga
"Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations strongly condemns this. A protest will be held outside of the office of Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner at 10 am on Friday April 15 under the aegis of Forum of Patriotic Parties," he added.
Vinayak Baliga was murdered on March 21 near his house in Kodialbail. So far, the police have arrested two contract killers and issued lookout notices against three, including Yuva Brigade leader Naresh Shenoy, who is said to be the prime suspect, and who has been absconding ever since the day of the crime.
