Bengaluru, Apr 12: Cheating is not uncommon here. But when the union law minister is cheated, it becomes news. When the minister belongs to the state, it is bigger news. The state government has taken up investigation into the allegation that some unknown people ate food and drank beverages at the Bengaluru airport and produced the bills in union law minister D V Sadananda Gowda‘s name.
The investigation began after the union minister wrote a letter to the state government stating that the airport staff produced bills in his name while he had not eaten or drank there. The bills are said to contain expensive items. The minister demanded a detailed report so that such things do not take place in future.
A team of protocol staff has been placed at the airport to look after the very important persons and guests of the state during their visits to the state. The protocol staff has made a bill which does not belong to Gowda. Hence he has written the letter to the state government.
The minister states in the letter that as he did not take any food or beverages at the airport during his travels, it was breach of trust. He believes that the staff, employed to keep protocol, are expected to observe basic protocol.
The minister insists that the matter is serious and stern action should be taken against the people who made the bills in his name. Before that he wants to see the detailed report.
The sources at the airport said that the bills were made by the private caterers who supplied food. But it is yet to be known who ate the food and drank beverages at the airport in minister’s name or under whose instructions the bills were made. They said the report will come out in few days and stern action will be taken against the culprits.
