Mangaluru, Apr 13: The cast and crew of superhit Tulu movie 'Chaali Polilu', which has completed a successful run of 511 days in the city, celebrated the milestone with a gala event at Town Hall here on April 12.
The movie, which recently won the award for the best Tulu film, has been produced by Prakash Pandeshwar under the banner of Jayakirana Films.
The programme was formally inauguarated by lighting the lamp by well-known litterateur and former vice-chancellor of KSOU Dr Vivek Rai along with other digniteries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Vivek Rai said, "All these Tulu movies were not produced with the intention to earn money. They were produced to promote and protect Tulu language. We need to support Tulu movies and watch at least one Tulu movie per month. I urge all the Tuluvas to support the youngsters who wish to work in the Tulu industry."
Lauding the makers of 'Chaali Polilu', he said, "'Chaali Polilu' is no less than any European movie. It is a beacon for the Tulu film industry. This movie has created a history in the Tulu film industry. I congratulate and wish all the very best to the whole team of 'Chaali Polilu'."
Health minister U T Khader said, "At a time when we feared that Tulu language would vanish due to the influence of modern languages, artistes like Devdas Kapikad, producer Prakash Pandeshwar and others created Tulu movies and popularised the language all over. As a health minister I can provide treatment to all diseases but there is no medicine for tension. To become tension-free, Tulu movies and dramas are the best medicine. I congratulate the entire team of 'Chaali Polilu' on completion of 511 successful days."
Senior Tulu actor Devdas Kaapikad said, "People have supported Tulu movies in the same way as they had supported Rangaboomi (theatre). Many Tulu movies have come, some were successful while some were not. But let us not get disappointed, instead let us move ahead with confidence and some day we will all win. I thank Prakash Pandeshwar for giving me this opportunity."
Cast and crew of 'Chaali Polilu' movie were honoured on the occasion.
Dr Hansaraj Alva launched the audio of upcoming Tulu movie 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa' which is the second film produced under the banner of Jayakirana Films.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Hansaraj Alva said, "I am very proud to be associated with this Tulu movie. I was asked to play a guest appearance in this movie. I was reluctant, but later I did it. I thank the team and wish all the very best to 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa'. I wish this movie runs more than 1,000 days."
Tulu film director and producer Dr Richard Castelino said, "At one point of time Tulu movies were very rare but now we have reached a stage were 15 movies are being produced in a year. This shows that we have progresssed a lot. But we are failing when it comes to movie release. There is limited audience and producers need to think about the market and release the movies accordingly, so that all movies survive. I urge all the Tuluvas to support Tulu movies and artistes. I congradualte and wish success to Dabak Dabaa Aisa."
