Mangaluru, Apr 13: "Preparations for Bramhakalashotsava of Shree Suryanarayana Temple, Maroli are going on in full swing. The Bramhakalashotsava will be held from April 17 to April 26," informed Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel at a press meet held at the temple office here on Wednesday April 13.
"Dakshina Kannada is a land of temples. From past few years renovation of historical temples is taking place. Shree Suryanarayana Temple is also a historical temple. There are only two Suryanarayana temples in DK, one in Naravi and the other in Maroli.
"Decision to renovate the Shree Suryanarayana Temple was taken four years ago with Balakrishna Kottari, K P Shetty and Giridar Shetty as renovation committee members and district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and I as honorary presidents. The renovation work has reached completion stage and about 15 crore has been already spent, and another Rs 4 crore to Rs 5 crore may be required. People of this district have contributed generously towards the renovation of this temple. We thank them for their support and contribution," Nalin Kateel added.
Bramhakalashotsava will be held from April 17 to 26. During these days, various spiritual and cultural programmes will be held from everyday from 6 pm to 8 pm, presided over by guests like district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, sports minister Abhaychandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, Sullia MLA S Angara, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC Ganesh Karnik, chancellor of Nitte University Vinaya Hegde, and MCC mayor Harinath.
"About 26 committees have been formed for the successful commencement of all these programmes. We have got very good support from the local MLA, district in-charge minister, corporation and officials. There are about four roads which connect different parts of the city to the temple. Parking facilities will be made for the devotees. We are expecting about 10 lac people to take part in Bramhakalashotsava programme," the MP said.
Office-bearers Balakrishna Kottari, K P Shetty, Giridar Shetty, Jaganath Shetty Bala and others were present.
