Kundapur, Apr 14: A man who ventured into the sea for fishing drowned on the evening of Wednesday April 13 evening. Shantaram (47), a native of Dombe, was the victim of this incident. The tragedy occurred at Someshwar beach near Byndoor in the taluk.
It is gathered that Shantaram had left the shore in his boat for undertaking fishing at sea. At around 6.30 pm, some locals noticed that Shantaram, who had lost balance and fallen into the sea, was struggling for his life. They rushed to his rescue. At the same time, ambulance was summoned by calling helpline 108. After sometime, Byndoor police came to the spot, but the ambulance was nowhere in sight. This made the locals furious about the negligence of those manning the ambulance service.
Later, Shantaran was rushed to Byndoor hospital in police vehicle. But he had died before reaching there, it is gathered. A case about the incident was registered in Byndoor police station.
