Kundapur, Apr 14: It has come to light that the vice-principal of nursing and commerce college located at Koteshwara in the outskirts of the town had sexually harassed a girl student of the college from Kerala over a period of one week. In this incident, which came into the open with some delay, the vice-principal has been charged with not only sexually harassing the student but also forcibly kissing her. He has been arrested.
The arrested accused has been identified as Amar from Kerala. The aggrieved girl student, in a case filed in the police station, also has accused a teacher of the college named Deepa of destroying evidence in the case.
Nursing training, aviation and BCom degree classes are held in this college. Most of the students studying in this college are from Kerala. It is said that since March 10 this year, vice-principal of this college, Amar, began to harass the student in question, who is a first year B Com student of the college. Outside the college hours, he used to speak to her using obscene language, and also had forcibly kissed her, it is learnt. The student said in her complaint, that he also threatened to rusticate her from the college if she rakes up this issue.
She also claimed that the vice principal also had the habit of sending sexually explicit messages to the cellphones of the girl students. Deepa, a college teacher, supported Amar in this act by deleting the messages thus received from the mobile phones of the girl students, she stated.
The police have produced the accused Amar in the court, after registering a case.
