Mangaluru, Apr 15: The city crime branch (CCB) police led by inspector Valentine D'Souza have arrested three persons in connection to the murder of fisherman Raju Kotian in Ullal.

The arrested are Mohammed Asweer alias Acchu (19), Abdul Mutalib (20), both from Ullal, and a delinquent juvenile.
Rajesh Kotian alias Raju, a fisherman, was found dead near Kotepura in Ullal police limits on April 12. His face was smashed and it was suspected to be a murder. According to a complaint lodged by his brother Jagadish, Raju was killed in the wee hours of April 12, when, as usual, he was on the way from home to the Kotepura jetty where he was supposed to go into the sea by boat for fishing.
Following the incident, the Mogaveera community held strong protests in front of the Ullal police station, demanding the arrest of culprits within 24 hours.
A special police team led by ACP Kalyan Shetty, comprising inspector Valentine D'Souza, Ashok P, Dinaker Shetty, and PSIs Shyamsunder, Bharati and Rajendra was formed to investigate the case.
All the three arrested were directly involved in the crime, police said. They were arrested by the CCB police near Someshwar bus stand on Thursday April 14.
Investigations are on to arrest other accused in the case.
