Mangaluru, Apr 16: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary on Saturday April 16 criticized BJP state president over the Rs 1 crore car 'loaned' to him by former minister Murugesh Nirani and also said that the only person who felt happy about Yeddyurappa's appointment as BJP state president was Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje.
Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office, Poojary said, "BJP president Yeddyurappa has taken Rs one crore car as a gift from Murugesh Nirani, and when questioned, he gives irresponsible statements. Before taking charge as the president of Karnataka BJP, Yeddyurappa said he had changed. When chief minister took watch as a gift, the BJP and Yeddyurappa criticized him with strong words, what do they have to say now about this car?
"People are questioning why Nirani gave car to Yeddyurappa and answering them is his responsibility," he added.
"Yeddyurappa also floated new KJP party and criticized BJP leaders then. When he became the state BJP president, only one person was happy, and that is Shobha Karandlaje, who has even declared Yeddyurappa as the next CM. She knows that if Yedduyurappa becomes the CM, she will become the home minister, hence she was happy.
"BJP leaders Ananth Kumar, Jagadish Shettar and Sadananda Gowda took part in the photo session with Yedyurappa, but they are not happy at his being given the post. They felt bad, as they too are aspiring for the CM's post," he claimed.
"Yeddyurappa is given irresponsible statements that he has taken the car for security purpose. Let me tell him that no one has any intention to will kill him. PM Narendra Modi auctioned his suit of Rs 10 lac, while Siddaramaiah handed over his watch to the government and the chapter was closed. Now a few media are demanding to know why the ACB has not registered a complaint against Yeddyurappa. At the same time media should demand a case against Modi over the suit," he opined.
On the resignation of Siddarmaiah's son Dr Yathindra as director of Matrix lmaging Solutions over the controversy regarding the company's contract with government-run hospitals, Poojary said, "The CM's son said that he has resigned from his post. His action is appreciable and I welcome it. In future he too can become the CM. Now I have a few questions for the CM. Why was HLL's bid for tender for the same project rejected? Is it not a government company? It was said its bid was rejected as it had not paid deposit, but the company clearly showed that it had paid the deposit. You (Siddaramaiah) did this for your son. Who was the highest bidder for this tender? HLL is providing service in seven states. This is not good for the government, the party and for you (CM). Even Digvijay Singh has conveyed a message from the high command and asked the CM's son to resign."
Taking a dig at minister Umashree's visit to the city on Saturday, he said, "You (Umashree) went to Bidar and drank borewell water. Go and take stock of the complete situation there, and stay there for 15 days. Why did you come here? I am saying this not to only you but all the ministers."
Asked why he had not given any statement on the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, he told reporters, "I am not the only one. Go and ask MLAs, ministers, the home minister and the CM for their statements too. It is wrong to commit murder."
