Mangaluru: City becomes home to Rs 7 crore car - Only third in country

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP/JS)

Mangaluru, Apr 18: The city has always been known to imitate high standards of lifestyle, and people here have come to believe that whenever some new product enters India, it comes to the city first. Now, the city has annexed a new feather to its cap of firsts, by being the first in Karnataka to get Aston Martin Vanquish car which costs a cool Rs 7.18 crore!

Entrepreneur from here, Arjun Moraes, is the proud owner of the car, which is manufactured in UK.

Arjun Moraes has lot of interest in luxury cars and he already owns several cars manufactured in different countries. He happens to be the first ever person from the city to buy Audi, BMW, and Austin cars. He makes it a point to register his cars in the city itself.

Moraes says that he has been crazy about cars since long, and always wanted to buy a sports car. "I decided to acquire Aston car four yeas back, and booked one six months ago. I appreciate its safety aspects and the drive that gives pleasant experience," he explains.

Speaking to daijiworld, Moraes said, "Cars are my passion. I came across this car and liked it, so I bought it." He also plans to buy more cars, but not immediately.

Head of the technical department of the company, Mohan Ismail, told a media that there are only 85 such cars in the entire world, and the car now bought by Moraes is only the third in the country, the first two having been bought by entrepreneurs from Mumbai and Chennai.

Aston Martin cars come in four models, V8 Vantage, DB 11, Rapide, and Vanquish.

Aston Martin Vanquish car has nine automatic gears including the reverse gear. It can cover 250 to 300 km per hour subject to road and traffic conditions. The car, which can cruise at top speed of 201 miles per hour, can reach 60 miles per hour speed in 3.6 seconds. This car, equipped with V 12 engine, is touted to be ultimate in luxury and comfort.

This car is completely man-made, and is delivered after six months of booking, says general manager of the company, Sandeep Gupta.

Aston Martin and James Bond go hand-in-hand ever since the first James Bond spy played by Sean Connery in Bond movie, stepped into the iconic DB5 over 50 years. The legacy still continues in latest bond movie “Spectre” too played by current Daniel Craig and the car an Aston Martin he used is DB10.
