London, Oct 15: Household cleaning sprays and air fresheners even once a week can trigger asthma.
Previous researches have shown that air fresheners and bleach trigger asthma symptoms even in people who already have asthma.
The new study of more than 3,500 people by Jan-Paul Zock from the Municipal Institute of Medical Research in Barcelona suggests that the risk increases with higher frequency of cleaning and the number of different sprays used.
Spray air fresheners, furniture cleaners and glass cleaners carried the highest risk, said the study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
