Dammam: Fun by the beachside - Enthusiasm aplenty at MASA Sports Day

Dammam, Apr 23: Mangalore Association rekindled the childhood memories of its members and added moments to cherish in youngsters by conducting its annual Sports Day recently at Al Shoula Beach Resort in Aziziah, Al Khobar. MASA Sports Day is one of the exciting events which members eagerly look forward to, elders to kids, everyone enjoy the day to the fullest with games and other entertainment activities. This is the first time MASA chose a beach resort to conduct such an event, and members and guests had more than games to keep them engaged throughout the day.

The programme was inaugurated at around 10 am by MASA president Narendra Shetty in the presence of advisory committee members Madhav Amin, Ravi Karkera, Dayanand Shriyan, Ahmed Gulam Beary and the executive committee members Sadashiv Poojary, Mohammed Nooman, Sathish Bajal, Praveen Peter Aranha, Babu Kotebettu, Viraj Kumar Shetty, Dayanand Chowta, Edwin Martis and Puttaraju.

During this occasion, president requested all the members to pray for the speedy recovery of Chadrashekar Nairy, an active member of who is in critical condition and admitted in Almana Hospital Al Khobar.

The event comprised individual and group games organized professionally by the event organizing team led by sports committee head Viraj Kumar Shetty. Enthusiastic members participated with full energy. They were divided into four houses - Red, Green, Blue and Yellow - led by Chandrashekar Karkera, Edwin Martis, Dayanand Chowta and Puttaraju respectively.

The day continued with a variety of games for all age groups. With the new venue, new games were also introduced which members liked equally. Exciting individual sports were conducted during the morning session and fun-filled group games during the afternoon. The pleasant atmosphere of the sunny day turned into a virtual battlefield. It was a treat to all participants and spectators. Participants were giving their best while the watching spectators of different house members encouraged them to win medals for their houses.

The House championship was won by Red House, while the Yellow House secured the first runner-up, followed by Green House and Blue House respectively. Individual championship among girls was bagged by Shravya Harish, and Mayron D’Souza, Joysten Castelino and Manish Pradeep shared the championship among the boys.


Winners of various events:

First, second and third place individual and group winners were invited to the victory stand and were awarded with bouquets and medals. Visiting parents of MASA members were also honoured during the event. Everyone enjoyed the sports event and the beach atmosphere to the fullest extent. With the lovely beach atmosphere, members rejoiced and got into the feel of enjoying at Mangaluru beaches. The most memorable sports event concluded with singing the National Anthem.
