Kundapur, Apr 23: The decennial programme of Rathabeedi Friends organized at Basrur near here on Thursday April 21 evening was marked by the presence of a large number of stars from both silver and small screens.
The organization, which has been engaged in different social works, held its decennial celebrations on a grand scale. Actors, Tilak, Sanjana, Mayuri of 'Ashwini Nakshatra' fame, Harish of 'Udaya Comedy', veteran artiste, Balaraj, V K Gopal, Rudregowda Mandya and artistes participating in 'Super Jodi' programme of Suvarna channel added to the grandeur and attraction of the programme. Credit for bringing together so many artistes at one stage goes to well-known entrepreneur, V K Mohan Vakwady.
Sanjana said that she likes the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, particularly Kundapur region, and lady fish. She said he takes fish from here when going to Bengaluru. She thanked the people for the love and affection showered on him.
Mayuri said she is happy about the people of the region. She said she credits the people here for retaining the flavour of Kannada, and appreciated their innocence and the way they respect the artistes.
Tilak stated that he had gathered information about Basrur and surrounding areas when working with music director of his movie, 'Ugram', Ravi Basrur, who happened to be from this place. "I am proud of the people here. Please see Kannada films, extend your best wishes to Kannada movies, and bless us," he requested.
Kota Srinivas Poojary, who inaugurated the decennial programme of Basrur Rathabeedi Friends, hailed the organization for the patriotism its members have, as evidenced by social service initiatives they have undertaken.

Annual car festival of Mahalingeshwara temple Basrur, a grand affair
The annual car festival of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple at Basrur was held on a grand scale on Friday April 22.
The rituals connected with the festival began on Saturday April 16 and culminated on Friday in the presence of thousands of devotees who came from various places. As prelude to the festival, Shatarudra, Ganahoma, Rangapuja, Ashwavahanotsava etc were held on Wednesday, followed with Shatarudra, oblations, Rangapuja, Pushparatha, Simhavahanotsava etc on Thursday.
Various rituals were performed in the temple on Friday too before the chariot of the lord was pulled. A huge welcome arch erected at Basrur for the car festival turned into a major attraction. The arch was inaugurated on Wednesday. Rathabeedi Friends have erected this welcome arch.
Managing trustee of the temple, B Appanna Hegde, trustees, S Govindaraj, B Ranganath Bhat, Sharat Bastikar, Ratna Mahabala Shettigar, Shankarnarayana Karant, Raghuram Shetty, B Ramakrishna Poojary, Rajeev Putram, a large number of businessmen, entrepreneurs, people's representatives and people representing various institutions and organizations were present.
