Hyderabad, Oct 20: In a gruesome incident, a man murdered his mother and kept her body in the house for 20 days to hide his crime.
Najeebur Rehman, 25, had earlier murdered his father Mujeebur Rehman - a scientific officer in Nuclear Fuel Complex here - in 2005 and was out of custody on bail.
The ghastly incident came to light Thursday when Samiullah, a relative of Najeebur, came to meet him at his house in Wahid Nagar in Chaderghat area.
He became suspicious when Najeebur did not let him enter the house. Samiullah asked Najeebur about his mother Rasheeda Sultana. She was sleeping, Najeebur answered. Then he locked the house from outside and went away.
Samiullah had gone to Najeebur's house on the request of Rasheeda's daughter Rukhsana Sultana, who lives in Saudi Arabia. She was worried because she had failed to contact her mother over the phone during the recent Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
Samiullah then informed the police, who broke open the front door to find the decomposed body of 52-year-old Rasheeda.
Given the state of the body, the cause of death could not be ascertained immediately. Police suspected that Rasheeda may have died three weeks ago.
Najeebur - who is said to be suffering from a psychological disorder - absconded after his alleged crime came to light.
Police said that Najeebur - the only son of Mujeebur and Rasheeda - started behaving abnormally after his graduation and used to quarrel with his parents over trivial matters.
It was during one such quarrel that he allegedly killed his father two years ago. He was in judicial custody but was then bailed out and went home to live with his mother.
Relatives said he used to spend money lavishly and when his mother chided him and asked him to mend his ways he allegedly killed her too.
When neighbours asked about his mother, Najeebur told them that she was not keeping well and since no foul smell emanated from the house, they did not suspect anything.
