Mangaluru, May 6: In an incident which occurred at the Vamanjur primary health centre here on Tuesday, a person who had accompanied a patient to the centre created a din, got engaged in verbal duel with the staff, tried to assault the staff there, and whiled away time although he was advised to take the patient to Wenlock Hospital.
The doctor at the hospital, after examining the patient, had advised the person, identified as Muhammed Siliyan, to take the patient, Usman (28) to Wenlock Hospital. Even after being given this advise, Muhammed continued to loiter around the premises of the health centre for over 40 minutes. When he was questioned about his inaction, he reportedly went wild, used obscene words against the staff there, tried to assault them, and in the process, broke the board of the centre. He also posed life threat to the concerned.
Medical officer of the said primary health centre, Renuka, had checked the health condition of Usman at around 10.45 am on May 3. After examining the patient, she advised Muhammed to take Usman to the district Wenlock Hospital as he was in need of advanced treatment. After finding that Muhammed and the patient continued to be inside the premises of the health centre even after 40 minutes, the medical officer and staff questioned him. It is said that the accused became angry and used derogatory language besides trying to attack them.
In a complaint filed in the rural police station here, the medical officer said that Muhammed not only entered the hospital, but also broke the board and threatened to burn down the building. He also is said to have posed death threats to Renuka and other staff of the centre.
