Mangalore, Oct 21: A programme, that was not like any other ever seen before. Because the kids in the age group between 3 to 5 years were the centre of attraction here. ‘Konkan Baal,’ a competition for kids organized by the Christian Life Community (CLC) of Angelore was held, which hugely kept the crowds entertained at the town hall here on Sunday, October 21st evening.
The blabbering talks of the little ones, their tottering catwalks as well as their funny replies left the adults who were present on the occasion here, gaping and awe-stuck. The Master of Ceremony Stany Mascarenhas was doing his best to bring out the hidden talent and creativity of the little ones. On the other hand the judges Dr Norbert Lobo, Zeena Machado and Meera Pereira were so enthralled, that they too had a tough and busy time judging the talented kids.
The ‘Konkani Baal’ competition was juxtaposed with the ‘Zeena Pereira’ concert. Interestingly most of the songs were either Goan or old Hindi songs. That is why this concert stands apart from any other past Konkani musical concerts done so far. Well- known singers like Vijay, Prakash and Prakash Mahadevan too sang on the occasion, while Alba Lobo compered the concert.
A short stage programme too, was held in the midst of this line up. Angelore parish priest Fr Stanley B Lobo presided over the function and newly elected corporators James D’Souza and Jecintha Boremiyo were felicitated on this occasion. Fr Maxim D’Souza, assistant parish priest of Angelore was the chief guest at the function. ‘Konkan Baal’ convener Robin Vas and CLC Angelore unit president Vinuta Pinto were present on the occasion. Albert Lasrado compered the stage programme.
Annalisa D’Silva daughter of Gregory and Premi D’Silva residing at Bondel was crowned as ‘Konkan Baal’ for the year 2007. Whereas, Vencita Dias daughter of Walter and Jyothi Dias residing at Angelore and Neil Jovial Pinto son of Valerian and Jyothi Pinto, residing at Angelore bagged the second and third prizes respectively.
In all a total of 28 kids residing in and around Mangalore city participated in the competition.
