Mangaluru, May 14: While the people in the city are facing severe water crisis even for drinking purpose, plenty of water is seen being wasted near Alape, Padil, after the main water pipeline got damaged. It is reported that though the locals have approached the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) over the issue for many days, there were no positive response to repair the water pipe.

A local resident, who did not want to be named, speaking to Daijiworld said “Plenty of water has been wasted after a main pipeline got damaged here. People have no water to drink in many places in the city. We buy water from tankers. But it pains to note that plenty of drinking water goes wasted due to negligence of concerned authority.”

As the damaged pipeline is the main one, if repaired immediately, lot of water can be saved.

Speaking to Daijiworld, mayor Harinath said "I will ask to take necessary step."

Daijiworld also tried to contact the local corporator but he did not take the phone.

From the photograph shown above, I am of the opinion that this is nothing compared to the leakage of a pipe on Babugudda main road, about 100 metres from the Nandigudda Hindu cemetery. This pipe has been leaking profusely since more than 15 days and nothing is being done by the local corporator inspite of several complaints. When will the authorities wake up especially when the city is facing such a grave water crisis. God help us!!

The concerned should call the Mayor, if not call our MLA, If both are uncommunicative (possibility nil) then District in charge Minister is the last remedy. If everything fails vow not to cast Vote to a Political Dummy.
