Mangaluru, May 18: The deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim has said through a circular that the district administration will take strict action against those who force closure of shops and inconvenience people by any other means during the proposed bandh on Thursday May 19.
"Yettinahole project is meant to supply drinking water in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Bengaluru rural and other districts. A meeting was arranged in the Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru on October 19 to discuss the pros and cons of the project. As the activists and participants requested to postpone the meeting, it was postponed. The chief minister, during his visit to the Dakshina Kannada district on April 21, had assured that a meeting will be held about it soon," the communication adds.
"As I came to know through the media that a bandh will be held on May 19 opposing the project, a meeting of the activists and leaders was called on May 17 and they were requested to give up the bandh. They have assured that the proposed bandh is voluntary and peaceful and have refused to give it up. The activists have assured that they will not force anybody to close shops or establishments. We will take strict action against those who force closure of shops and inconvenience people by any other means." he has stated in the circular.
